YOLO 45-Hour Course
Mission: The Reviving The Village 45-hour course was created for community members, grassroots organizations, and breastfeeding supporters that are in search of growing professionally. In addition to this course counting towards education hours in preparation for the IBCLC exam, this course centers Black lactation care, amplifies the voices of Black experts, and provides anti-racist lactation training to dominant culture lactation supporters while working alongside Black lactation supporters.

- Breastfeeding in Color (supporting BIPOC families)
- And more!
You will gain 45 lactation education hours and knowledge to enhance the care you provide for families. After completing the course you will receive the designated certification for that course.
Access: In alignment with our core value of accessibility and efforts to reach as many lactation supporters as possible, this course is offered in a virtual format. The 2023 classes will be offered in March, June, September, and November. The cost to register is $650.00.
Leadership: The 45 hour course is facilitated by YOLO Lactation and Doula Services founder, Shonte’ Terhune-Smith, BS, IBCLC, BD, CLS. Shonte’ is a health educator, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, and the founder of YOLO. Over the past eight years, she has worked diligently in Genesee County to increase breastfeeding rates. She has worked at WIC, in hospitals and at various pediatric and obstetrician clinics, promoting, educating women about breastfeeding. Shonte’ facilitates local support groups, partners with community organizations, provides birth and postpartum doula services, and is a trained childbirth educator. Shonte’ has worked with hundreds of families through education, support, and empowerment. She prides herself in caring, professional, efficient, and trustworthy care. She is an experienced presenter, program implementer, and thought leader.
