Community Breastfeeding Specialist Course

This course was created for community members, doulas, grassroots organizations, and breastfeeding supporters that are in search of growing professionally. This course centers equity, community, interactive learning, and guidance in starting your career as a lactation professional. This 45-hour credit course can count towards your educational hours before the IBCLC exam. If your goal is to be part of the solution in your community, this course is for you!

With this course you will become certified as a Community Breastfeeding Specialist.

This course is for you if you:

  • Need to earn 45 CERPs
  • Care for Black families and desire to serve families with cultural humility
  • Understand that exams don’t always prepare you for the work, but you need to prep for the work and the exam too (We don’t require an exam, but we do in-depth case studies and application-based learning!)
  • Are focused on dismantling barriers and finding workable solutions for Black families within healthcare systems
  • Want to take coursework at times and in a format that works for you – virtually!

  • September 15-19, 2025 – 9am to 2pm EST
  • October 20-24, 2025 – 9am to 2pm EST
  • November 10-14, 2025 – 9am to 2pm EST
  • December 8-12, 2025 – 9am to 2pm EST

*Note: There are 1-2 hours daily flex for case study work for 2 week courses and 2-3 hours daily flex for case study work for the 1 week courses.
